Chapter 1 - The Beginning
The real star of the show!
Meet the real star of the show, Mr Axel himself.
Our journey with aquariums starts with building Axel a home.
We had no idea what we were doing, but we were instantly obsessed. The guy at the store was super helpful and talked us through everything: cycling the tank, testing the water, dechlorinating, the whole deal. We spent a couple of weeks setting everything up, constantly checking if things were "ready," making multiple trips back to the pet shop with water samples.
Chapter 2 - Moving In
The Tank Was Ready!
The Day Had Arrived.
Once Axel was finally settled in, we were totally hooked. Watching him cruise around his tank like the little aquatic legend he is just sparked something. We started learning more about water care, tank setups, and before we knew it, one tank turned into two. After a couple of weeks of cycling and testing, the second tank was finally ready—for some brand new inhabitants.
Chapter 3 - The start of an obsession
Blue Dream Beginnings
We took a trip to a little aquarium shop in IJmuiden and picked up 10 bright blue shrimp. Carefully added to our newly cycled tank, they quickly won us over with their tiny legs and constant exploring. We spent way too much time just watching them do their thing. Then, about two months in, it happened—our first berried shrimp! We were buzzing with excitement. A few weeks later, we spotted our very first shrimp babies tucked away in the moss, and that was it… we were completely hooked.
The Present
Two tanks quickly turned into three… then four… then five—you get the idea. Let’s just say things escalated. And the same went for the shrimp. Those original ten multiplied fast, and before long, we were adding new shrimp from trusted breeders with strong genetics to grow and diversify our colony. Over the years, we found ourselves with more shrimp than we knew what to do with—so naturally, Lumi was born.
